Crockers Farm Cottage
Construction of a new bungalow to replace some redundant outbuildings and staff accommodation.
Planning brief: to create a house that retains the character of the original building hence a design that externally resembles a stable block. The building is designed to be energy efficient with a low carbon footprint which benefits the client with low energy bills and assists towards the Government’s zero carbon target by 2050. Features include; (i) high levels of insulation, (ii) intelligent membranes to achieve a high level of air tightness whilst allowing the building to breath and checking the movement of airborne moisture hence reducing the risk of condensation, (iii) substantial technologies in the form of photovoltaic cells and ground force heat pumps to reduce carbon emissions and running costs.
